Promo - 1,000 Bonus Miles per NW Segment

January 9th, 2009
  • Did anyone else know about this??? I had no idea, a buddy of mine in ANC mentioned it to me. I haven't seen it in the newsletter or on MP statements, but it is on the promo page:

Earn Bonus Miles When You Fly Northwest Airlines

Between August 1 and September 30, 2002, Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members can earn Bonus Miles for every flight on Northwest Airlines. Bonus Miles earned are as follows:

Earn 1,000 Bonus Miles per segment* flown on a paid Coach ticket.

Earn 2,000 Bonus Miles per segment* flown on a paid First Class ticket.

Earn 3,000 Bonus Miles per segment* flown on a paid World Business Class ticket.

    Register at http://www2.alaskaair.com/Promo/Registration/PromoEntry.asp?pid=NW0205

Wish I would have known, as I had four NW segments in August. At least I'll be ready for my seven this month.

Can I book it on NW or AS website for additional bonus? Can I use and electronic kiosk for bonuses? Can I get bonuses for first time booking on web site etc...

Since you are using NW miles for AS credit I wouldn't know whether to book on AS or NW for bonuses.

To earn WorldPerks bonuses, I believe you have to earn WP miles for the flights. The promo is for Alaska Mileage Plan miles for flights flown on NW...

So you could register for Mileage Play, my alaskair.com and get the flight miles and per-segment bonus - but I don't believe you would qualify for an NW online booking bonus.

  • TRIP 1: NW*SMF-MSP-DTW-MEM-MSY-MEM-DTW-MSP-SMF
    TRIP 2: NW*SMF-MSP-DTW-MEM-MSY-DTW-MSP-SMF
    TRIP 3: NW*SJC-DTW-MEM-MSY-MEM-MSP-SJC
    TRIP 4: CO*SFO-IAH-TPA NW*TPA-MEM-BNA-MEM-FLL CO*FLL-IAH-SFO
    TRIP 5: NW*SFO-DTW-BNA-DTW-SFO
    TRIP 6: NW*LAX-MSP-DTW-BDL-DTW-MSP-LAX

I stand corrected - 24,000 miles. The NW segments on trips 4 and 5 are CO code share so will not qualify for the 1000 mile per segment bonus. As well, trip 6 returns from BDL on October 1st.

Still, 24 qualifying segments on NW in September ain't bad. Good thing I actually enjoy flying. I'm timing my westbound DTW-MSP flights to hopefully get bumped as I understand that route is packed around 5:00pm. If so, and if the next DTW-MSP flight is available, I'll be that much better off. I'll also get alot of reading done and will hopefully be sitting up in the front cabin on most of those flights.

  • 26,000???? geez, where 'ya headed?

  • If you're a dedicated member of Alaska's Mileage Plan, it's a good idea to make visits to their Promotions page once a week or so.

I will be getting 26000 extra miles in September from this promotion as a result.
