Network Marketing-How to Start Your Business off Right in 2008

November 20th, 2008

I was sitting in my office the other day, just thinking about my business. I had to know what things were working for me and what things were working against me. As this year comes to a close, I know that I dont want to repeat the same mistakes next year. I can always get more money, but I can never get back wasted time and energy. Im sure you feel the same way about your business.

As you look over your year, what do you see? Any patterns of good or bad work habits? Did you get any personal development training? What marketing techniques did you learn and apply? Most importantly, are you the same person as you were at the beginning of 2007?

You see, if you are the same person as when you started your business at the beginning of this year, it means that youre not growing. And since your business is an extension of you, you can best believe that your business didnt grow either.

As 2007 comes to a close, there are certain things that you need to have in place before 2008. You first must make a decision. You must decide that you will do whatever it takes to become successful; you must decide that next year will not be like 2007. Until youve reached that point where youve decided things must change, youll just end up spinning your wheels and getting nowhere in your business-again.

Next you want to look at your business plan. If you dont have a business plan, you need one. Your business plan should breakdown the reasons why youre even in business to begin with; it lists your income goals, business goals and the marketing plan that is going to make all your goals a reality.

You also need to write down what training you need in order to accomplish your marketing plan. More often than not you will need some kind of training to learn how to market correctly.

After you have your business plan and your marketing plan in place, you should set down a consistent business schedule that you can follow day in and day out. It should be at least five hours per week. First youll want to keep in mind your other responsibilities like your work schedule (if you work), your family and religious activities. Then design a business schedule from the remaining hours.

Now you have everything written down, youll want to dive deeper into your marketing plan and expand on what marketing methods youll be using. Unless you have a degree in marketing, youre going to need training in every method youll be using to market your business.

Write down the courses and training youll need in order to learn each method. You will have to do some research and find out whats available. If youre new to marketing, youll want to learn one technique first and then apply it successfully before going to the next method. Your goal is to have a minimum of three to five methods in place at any given time.

Dont forget your copywriting skills and most importantly, your personal development training. Now you have everything in place to help you start your business right in 2008. And it all started with a decision.
